Salt River Tubing
Grab some sunblock and a group of fun friends and head out to Salt River Tubing, they will hook you up with a tube and a shuttle bus to a beautiful desert beach ready to take on a fun, easy float down the lower Salt River in the cool water.
Saguaro (Sa-WAH-ro) Lake,
Saguaro Lake is set in the Sonoran Desert and is rimmed with canyon walls. As the name implies, the shores of the lake are studded with majestic Saguaro cactus. Try the upper reaches of the lake (east-end) for more seclusion. Boat access camping at the east end of the lake. Tour-boat trips are available on the Desert Belle: (480) 984-2425. Over 2200 fish-habitat structures were installed to enhance fishing on the lake. According to Bass Master Magazine, the best time for trophy bass is October to December and February to mid-April.
Canyon Lake
Canyon Lake boasts stunning shorelines along its red rock cliffs, making it a picturesque destination. Boaters seeking both beauty and tranquility should explore the east end of the lake, where the water meanders between steep canyon walls. Keep an eye out for occasional sightings of Bighorn sheep and other wildlife. For those interested in lake tours, you can call (480) 827-9144 for information. Boat-access camping is available at The Point.
From November to March, the Arizona Game and Fish Department stocks the lake monthly with rainbow trout. There's also a barrier-free fishing dock at the Boulder Recreation Site. Anglers can expect to catch Largemouth Bass here each year, including a state-record 15-pound Largemouth, caught from the shoreline!
Roosevelt Lake
Theodore Roosevelt Lake is a large reservoir formed by Theodore Roosevelt Dam on the Salt River in Arizona as part of the Salt River Project. Located roughly 80 miles northeast of Phoenix in the Salt River Valley, Theodore Roosevelt is the largest lake or reservoir located entirely within the state of Arizona. Both Non-Motorized and Motorized boats are allowed at Roosevelt for maximum enjoyment of the water.
