The local craft beer scene is booming in NW & Hill Country.  Boerne is home to six local breweries, four of which are within walking distance of each other on the popular Hill Country Mile. Each brewery provides a unique atmosphere with different food, events, and live music. Below are the local Boerne breweries along with some in the local surrounding area.

Cibolo Creek Brewing, located on Main Street in downtown Boerne, provides a welcoming, family-friendly environment for locals and people visiting Boerne. Along with their top-notch brewed beer, they provide local farm-sourced food, along with great weekly specials. Their five house beers are always available on tap, along with different, rotating, small-batch seasonal beers. Catch some live music out back in their beer garden. Cibolo is open every day of the week, except Tuesdays.

Free Roam Brewing, located in beautiful downtown Boerne, specializes in fine ales and lagers. You will find a wide range of beer styles from ultra-light lagers to double IPAs, as well as stouts, porters, and pilsners. There is a large beer garden in the back where you can almost always find live music or a fun event, and food trucks. Trivia night is every Tuesday and every Monday is the 5K run club. Free Roam is a dog-friendly environment and is open every day from 11 am – midnight.

Tusculum Brewing, located in historic downtown Boerne is a family-friendly brewery where you can find beer styles from lagers, IPAs, red ales, porters, and stouts. Tusculum also offers a great food menu for casual dining. Enjoy your beer and food in their indoor taproom, outdoor patio area, brewhouse taproom, or in the outdoor covered biergarten in the back. Tusculum is open Thursday – Sunday.  
 
The Dodging Duck Brewhaus

The Dodging Duck opened in 2002 and is Boerne’s first brewery. It is located just off Main Street on River Rd, across the street from Cibolo Creek where many cars are “dodging ducks”. You can find beer styles anywhere from Belgian-style pale ales, IPAs, Doppelbocks, red ales, and stouts. Their large food menu contains a wide variety including salads, soups, burgers, hoagies, German sausages with sauerkraut, and even vegan/vegetarian options. There is indoor seating as well as an outdoor covered deck with a great view of the creek.

Barrelman is a family-owned and operated nano-brewery, located directly off I-10 toward the north end of Boerne. They specialize in brewing high-quality small-batch brews and carry about five rotating guest taps. You can find beer styles anywhere from wild ales, pale ales, IPAs, Imperial IPAs, porters, and stouts. For food, food trucks are usually available, you can bring your own, or have it delivered to the brewery.

28 Songs Brewhouse is a veteran-owned brewery with a casual setting and is located on the north end of Boerne’s Main Street, also directly off I-10. Their taproom consists of 28 beer taps, and they also have wine and cider. Their food menu is inspired by Texas favorites including salads, wings, pretzels, sandwiches, burgers, and sweets. Enjoy live music every Saturday or watch a sporting event on one of their TVs in the taproom.

Kinematic Brewing, located just south of Comfort, is right off I-10 heading west just past Boerne. The brewery sits on a few acres, providing an excellent hill country feel that is also dog friendly. You can find a variety of craft beers including some tasty IPAs, helles, ESB, and an occasional sour.

The Busted Sandal Beer Garden is in the Shops at Old Town in Helotes, TX, about 20 miles SW of Boerne. The beer garden has indoor seating with air conditioning as well as outdoor seating with picnic tables and a nice, relaxing, hill country atmosphere.

Located in the Shavano Park area off 1604 in north San Antonio, Freetail Brew Pub is the brewery’s original brewpub location. There is indoor and outdoor seating. With about 12 beers on tap, you can enjoy styles such as a quadrupel, doppelbock, Irish red, IPA, Saison, or lager. There is a full food menu including their popular brick-fired pizza.
