But First, Coffee(Shops)

A go to coffee shop is a must, but a Local Coffee Shop is essential!

It is no secret how much the last few years have had on local small businesses. This especially hit hard in the Restaurant, Bar, Brewery, Winery, and Coffee Shop sectors of our community. This led directly to the creation of Stark Flavor. Stark Flavor is a digital marketing concept that is an innovative way of supporting local small businesses starting in the food and beverage industry. One of the digital passports we run yearly is the Stark County Coffee Crawl. This features various local small business coffee shops in a fun experience where customers can go to each shop and check in on the mobile version of our website. After completing this passport, they receive free rewards as a thank you for supporting our local small business owners.

Before the pandemic and long before any Stark Flavor idea was hatched, I will admit I knew of a few local places and I did stop in and support them from time to time, however, I still often found myself heading for that normal national pink donut brand on most mornings. As Ohio moved out of the quarantine period in the late spring of 2020 and small businesses began to reopen under strict rules, I made the decision that I was going to be sure to support a locally owned small business whenever I could. Making this decision as it came to getting my morning (or sometimes afternoon) cup of coffee just drove the importance of this idea home even more.

Over the years since making the decision to go all in on supporting local, there is one lesson that I have learned the most. The best thing about supporting a locally owned business is the people that you have the chance to get to know. I have had the opportunity to meet so many incredible small business owners and more importantly gotten to learn about the stories behind their brands. When you get to know a small business owner it does not take long for you to see the passion and love they have for their craft and how it goes into their product. This is especially true for our local Coffee Shop scene! As I said earlier, I knew of a few of these local gems, but I had no idea how many fantastic espresso-filled locations we have within a short driving distance of where I live in Canton! If you are interested in checking out some of these amazing local Java-inspired hotspots, I encourage you to visit as many of these places as possible! I can promise that you will not be disappointed!
