Meet The Rysvkowskis
Loving Life in South Metro Denver!
Coley Ortega, a local hairstylist, and her husband James Rysvkowski, along with their two boys, Marley (13) and Apollo (6), are an adventurous family rooted in the heart of South Metro Denver. From their happy household to their involvement in the community, the Rysvkowskis embody the vibrant spirit of their beloved area.
“James and I have been together for 10 years,” smiles Coley. These two Colorado natives married at the Evergreen Lake House, beginning their new life together.
A Little About the Family
Coley is an established hairstylist in the Centennial area. She loves uplifting women and their confidence through their hair and giving them a chance to take care of themselves. She attended Arapahoe High School, a tradition her son Marley will continue. James grew up in Denver and works as a maintenance manager in Parker. Their boys are avid soccer players, participating in Littleton Soccer and engaging in various outdoor activities.
“We have a mini-farm on our property,” shares Coley. It’s home sweet home complete with three ducks, eight chickens, two dogs, and a garden. They maximize their quarter acre of land with a chicken coop, a garden, a playset, and a trampoline, creating a little oasis where they grow jack-o'-lantern pumpkins in the fall and enjoy bonfires.
Hidden Gems
Coley and her family have deep roots in South Metro Denver. “I feel like it’s such a great family environment,” she says. “I love Centennial Park, which has a splash pad.” She also appreciates the sense of community. “You don’t get there everywhere,” she candidly comments.
You can find them enjoying the outdoors. “We play outside a lot,” she comments. Expect to find them hiking, frequenting the trails at Cottonwood Canyon, which she finds amazing. “There is a cave hike that the kids love, which is less than a mile. You gain elevation while hiking through the caves.” It’s also a great place to spot local wildlife. “We’ve seen turkeys, rattlesnakes, all the creatures,” she says.
“We also like to go to the High Line Canal, which is so pretty,” she adds. All the hidden trails make it adventurous for this family of four. Their weekends are filled with activities like paddleboarding and visits to the Renaissance Festival. Off-roading is another family favorite, with James and Marley enjoying jeep and motorcycle rides to places like Blackhawk and Big Dry Creek Trail, where they often spot elk, deer, and frogs.
Music, Meals, and More
“The whole family likes Country music,” adds Coley. Recently, their 6-year-old attended his first Country concert and really liked it. They like going to Fiddler’s Green to hear live music.
They also enjoy local eateries, with Venalonzo's Tacos in Centennial being a new favorite for its delicious street tacos. As for date night, Coley has a soft spot for The Melting Pot, especially for their chocolate martinis and desserts.
The Rysvkowskis are known for their adventurous lifestyle. Coley and Marley recently completed a six-mile fun run and a Spartan race, which they loved.
Connections + Community
Coley emphasizes the importance of community and staying connected through local mom pages on Facebook, such as "Moms of Parker." These groups are invaluable for sharing information about local events, activities, and recommendations, fostering a supportive network among parents. “They help you know about events that are happening,” says Coley.
A Wonderful Life
The Rysvkowskis are enjoying life to the fullest in South Metro Denver. Their lives are filled with joy, growth, and the promise of many more exciting chapters to come. If you see them out and about, be sure to say hello. They are looking to meet more friendly folks here in the local area (and that means you!).
