Lone Tree Art Center
Since opening in 2011, the Lone Tree Arts Center has garnered national attention for its innovative programming. Owned and operated by the City of Lone Tree, LTAC has created a dynamic model for the performing arts in both presenting and producing performances for all ages. In addition to producing its own theatrical shows each year, LTAC collaborates with premier Colorado performing arts companies to present their productions in Lone Tree and serves as a home for the Lone Tree Symphony Orchestra and the Denver Concert Band.
An intimate venue with every seat closer than 60 feet from the stage, LTAC’s Main Stage Theater has become a prime location for intimate concerts with headline performers such as Art Garfunkel, Randy Newman, Lea Salonga, Ruben Studdard, and more. Each season, national and international touring artists take to the Main Stage to delight audiences of all ages – there is truly something for everyone. Summertime brings the annual Tunes on the Terrace concert series, taking advantage of the Arts Center’s outdoor music theater.
In addition to Main Stage performances, the Lone Tree Arts Center focuses on programs that make an impact in our community.
Passport to Culture is a monthly program specifically designed for children and families to experience arts and culture outside the classroom and inside a world of imagination through performances, workshops, and pure entertainment to foster the growth of visual and performing arts, science, and cultural understanding in our community.
Seedlings is a family program designed to engage parents and young children (toddlers through kindergartners) in arts, culture, and science at the Lone Tree Arts Center. Seedlings programs are offered once a month on Tuesday mornings, and there are always two sessions (9:30am and 11am) to accommodate all that are interested. Best of all, the programs are affordable – $3 per person, with children ages one and under free.
The Lone Tree Arts Center has become nationally recognized for sensory-friendly performances for families of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, autism, sensory processing disorder, or other conditions. Performances are presented in a relaxed, sensory-friendly way to ensure everyone has access to live entertainment at an affordable rate. Performers modify shows to ensure there are no startling noises or visually over-stimulating components. Sound levels are kept lower than normal and lights in the audience are higher than normal, ensuring audience members can see each other. Audience members are free to come and go if need be (there is always a "safe room" available) and are asked to wave hands rather than clapping.
The Lone Tree Arts Center also recognizes that seniors in our community have different needs than people at other stages in their lives. Arts in the Afternoon is a monthly hour-long program that takes place once a month on a Wednesday afternoon at a lower cost than evening performances. The series features some of the finest classical, jazz, opera, and other musicians from the metro Denver area. Each show includes a significant educational component, with the professional musicians or their narrators sharing historical and artistic insights about the music they play. After the performance, the audience enjoys complimentary refreshments and conversation with artists.
In addition, the Lone Tree Arts Center presents SPARK!, a free program offered in conjunction with the Alzheimer's Association for people experiencing mild memory loss, early stage Alzheimer's, or a related dementia, and their family, friends, and guests. These cultural programs feature interactive and engaging experiences in a welcoming environment. Specially trained educators and guides involve participants in lively discussions, social engagement, and other hands-on multi-sensory activities using the genres of art, music, and poetry. The programs last for one hour and end with refreshments, giving participants and caregivers an opportunity to support and socialize.
The Lone Tree Arts Center also features the visual arts through its lobby gallery. Each year, a variety of artwork is shown through the Lone Tree Commissioner’s Choice Exhibit, the juried Annual Exploring the Light Photography Show, and the juried Lone Tree Art Expo.
The Lone Tree Arts Center is available for rental events. Hosting everything from formal weddings to theatrical performances to corporate events, the Arts Center makes events stand out from the rest. Coordination with expert technical staff ensures a polished and professional event. In addition to the Main Stage Theater and the elegant lobby, the flexible Event Hall hosts luncheons, business meetings, holiday parties, and more.
